Prime quality preclinical R&D

Act-Inno provides extensive expertise for the development and research of medical devices. We offer one-stop preclinical tests, in-vivo evaluations and physician trainings after market approval. We strive for the highest quality that will ultimately benefit the patients.

Our infrastructure includes a hybrid OR room equipped with the latest angiography suite from Siemens (ARTIS Icono). The room allows performing complex cardio- and neurovascular interventions. These may – for instance – include invasive hemodynamic monitoring, 3D electroanatomic mapping or extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. Cone-beam computed tomography (CT) improves therapeutic outcomes. Transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography can be performed intraoperatively (ACUSON S2000, Siemens). Two additional operating theatres and two dedicated intensive care units complete the experimental surgery ward. The on-site translational imaging center is a valuable asset of the facility. It offers 3T and 7T full-body MRI (Magnetom Terra, Siemens) just next door.

We believe that successful translational R&D not only relies on state-of-the art infrastructure but benfits also from on-site clinical experts. Due to our close relationship to the largest tertiary cardiovascular center in Switzerland, we can provide broad expertise directly in the cath lab. Specialized invasive cardiologists, electrophysiologists, cardiac surgeons, perfusionists, imaging specialists and biomedical engineers can accompany your development endeavors closely. In-vivo experiments are supported by experienced anesthetists and catheter laboratory staff. Long-standing collaborations with veterinarians, pathologists, engineers and laboratory analysts from the University of Bern allow us to address even complex research questions, e.g. in the context of chronic in-vivo studies. During interventions in the hybrid OR, bidirectional image and sound transmission is possible. This allows you to follow and discuss experiments without having to be present in the operating room yourself. Lecture halls, training operating rooms, direct access to public transport and a restaurant in the same building are other amenities that facilitate your venture.
